Spearman's Rho measures the strength and the direction of the relationship between two variables. Unlike Pearson r which requires data from both variables be interval and normally distributed, Spearman's r is appropriate to use if the data are ordinal or if the data are interval but not normally distributed. This Spearman's Rho calculator [1] can further assist in clarifying.
