Knowing that the relationship is significant does not tell us whether this effect is strong or weak. So we need to calculate an effect size as well as the t-test.

When the p-value is less than or equal to .05, this means there is a statistical significance. This is when we need to take effect size value into account. If the p-value is greater than .05, then there is no statistical difference so there would not be an effect size.
